Sold your tea, have special bond with this state: Modi in Assam
Guwahati, Mar 26 (IBNS): In an effort to strike an instant chord with the Assamese people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that since his days as tea seller, he shares a special bond with the state of Assam.
While addressing his first rally in Assam's Tinsukia district, Modi said "It was your tea I sold to people and spent my childhood."
In an attack to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, he said, "I am not fighting Gogoi but Gareebi (poverty)."
Modi said, "I will suffer a personal loss after the elections. A fine Union Minister will lead Assam after the polls."
Modi was referring to Sarbananda Sonowal, the present Union Sports Minister and BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for the state polls.
The PM is set to address five rallies in the space of few hours on Saturday.
Tweeting about the same, Modi earlier in the day said, "Will campaign in Assam today. Shall address rallies in Tinsukia, Majuli, Bihpuria, Bokakhat and Jorhat."
