SC directs states and UT's to treat acid attack victims free of cost

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IBNS) The Supreme Court on Monday asked all the states and Union Territories to provide free treatment and compensation to acid attack victims, according to reports.

In a move to curb down off-the counter acid sales, the SC also directed all the states and UT's to make it a 'scheduled substance'.

The verdict came while dealing with an acid attack victim from Bihar. The court asked the state to compensate the victim with 10 lakhs and also provide her aid free of cost.
