Putin praises Modi’s ‘good ideas’ to end Ukraine war, thanks Indian PM for peace efforts
Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Indian PM Narendra Modi for his efforts to end the ongoing Ukraine war, appreciating him for his 'good ideas'.
Speaking during an event in Moscow, Putin was quoted as saying by News.ru: "By the way, we are grateful to the Prime Minister for his ideas—I won't go into details now—for his desire to end this conflict, including peacefully and as quickly as possible."
Modi informed about India's stance on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war when Putin visited India for the BRICS summit last month.
Modi on September 11, on the sidelines of the mega event in Delhi, reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy were the way forward to resolve conflicts during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi ahead of the BRICS Summit.
His remarks assume significance amid the escalation in fighting between Russia and Ukraine in recent weeks.
Delighted to meet President Putin in Delhi, less than two weeks after our meeting in Bishkek.

Modi told Putin that India was ready to contribute to peace efforts and support initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
The meeting was the second between Modi and Putin this year. The two leaders had earlier met in Bishkek on the sidelines of the 26th SCO Summit on August 31, 2026.
Between 1 and 24 September, the UN said it recorded at least 200 civilians killed and 1,234 injured.
