Rahul Gandhi targets Modi on his foreign visits

| | Nov 24, 2015, at 02:19 am
Saharanpur, Nov 23 (IBNS) Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his foreign trips and said while he is busy traveling abroad, his party is standing beside the farmers of Uttar Pradesh.

"Modi is not seen in the country these days," Gandhi told reporters.

Gandhi said: "I am hosting a march to support farmers but Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yada is not ready to hear them."

Gandhi said he see all Indians equally.

Gandhi reached out to sugarcane farmers on Monday  by undertaking a Kisan Padyatra in Saharanpur district.

Gandhi interacted with the peasants with farmers in Hardakhedi, Sikrikalan and Patni villages of the district, spoke on their distress and criticised the policy of the Narendra Modi government at the centre.

Saharanpur is part of western Uttar Pradesh where there is a major issue of payment arrears to sugarcane growers who are seeking a higher price for their produce.

Assembly elections in the state are likely in the first half of 2017.

Meanwhile, Gandhi witnessed a controversy when Congress leader Imran Masood, who was jailed last year for his hate speech against Modi, was seen sharing stage with him on Monday.
