Jammu and Kashmir: Army constructs bridge to ease the commute of school children

Srinagar: India Army constructed a bridge to ease the passage of school children of Dardsun in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara on Thursday.

As part of initiatives undertaken to improve daily lives of marginalized sections of locals and students from far flung villages, the Army constructed a bridge connecting the Government High School, Dardsun to the main Warsun road in the border district.

A defence spokesman said that locals from Dardsun tehsil Kralpora had approached Indian Army for assistance for improving the connectivity between Dardsun and main road to ease the commute of school children and elders who had to take a long detour to reach their destinations.

The Indian Army undertook a Project to construct the bridge to provide direct access to the school facilitating easy and fast movement of students and villagers.

The bridge was inaugurated by the Sarpanch of Dardsun Mushtaq Ahmad Mir in presence of residents from both villages.

The residents of the villages, teachers and parents of children appreciated the efforts of the Army and thanked them for their assistance.

The Indian Army is committed to the welfare and development of the people of Kupwara and will always remain in the forefront of such initiatives, the spokesman added.
