New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS) An NRI was arrested on Monday by the Border Security Force (BSF) after his speeding vehicle rammed the security gates at the Attari Joint Check Post, reports said.

Surinder Singh Kang, a 42-year old Canadian citizen originally hailing from Jalandhar was found in an inebriated state by the BSF after his SUV came to a halt.

His car, which had crossed the Indian gates and reached the Pakistan side was confiscated by the neighbouring patrol officials, who later returned the vehicle.

After primary detention, Kang was handed over to the Punjab Police.

Several charges including 'attempt to murder', 'passport act' and 'preventing government officials from performing their duties' have been levied on Kang.

Reports also said that an investigation for the case has officially started.
