Chittoor Mayor shot dead, husband critically injured

Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 17 (IBNS) Mayor of Chittoor municipal corporation Katari Anuradha was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Tuesday noon, reports said.

 Her husband Mohan also received bullet injuries and is in a critical condition.

A gang of burqua clad men entered the municipal corporation office at around 12 in the noon and shot Anuradha from a close range killing her on the spot.

The miscreants then attacked Mohan with knives and injured him critically. The attackers fled the scene after the incident. 

Police launched a manhunt. The hired killers are believed to have come from Bengaluru. 

The mayor belonged to the  ruling Telugu Desam Party.
