Puri/IBNS: After a gap of two years owing to Covid-19, people have thronged at the Snana Mandap in Puri Srimandir for the Snana Yatra, media reports said.

The ritual marks the beginning of the Rath Yatra festival.

People have thronged to get a glimpse of the deities on 'Snana Bedi'.

The deities were placed on Snana Bedi at 6 am.

After the Snana Yatra rituals, other rituals like Mangalarpana, Pahandibije started at 4 am.

As per the practice, the deities are bathed with 108 pots of aromatic water by the servitors.

After the bath, the deities would wear the elephant attire and they would give a free public glance to the deities later.

A general belief prevails that anyone, who gets a glance of the lord, is washed away of all his/her sins.
