Kiev, Mar 11 (Xinhua/UNI): A severe windstorm hit several regions in central, southern and northern Ukraine on Sunday and Monday, claiming the lives of at least three people and injuring four others, the State Service for Emergencies said.

An 11-year-old girl and a 28-year-old woman were killed by falling trees in two separate incidents in Vinnytsya region in central Ukraine, it said.

Besides, a woman died and her daughter was critically injured in the town of Korosten in northern Zhytomyr region after they were struck by a dislodged part of the roof of a local supermarket.

In southern Mykolayiv region, two children and an adult were injured after a tree uprooted by the windstorm fell on a passenger bus with 15 people on board.

The State Service for Emergencies issued an orange alert, the second highest in the country four-tier warning system, for 15 regions in different parts of Ukraine, saying they could be hit by a windstorm by the end of Monday.
