On June 1 at Kolkata's Taj Bengal hotel, Italy celebrated its National Day (June 2) with a reception, to commemorate the historic post-Second World War day (June 2, 1946) when the country voted for a Republic. Consul General of Italy in Kolkata, Riccardo Dalla Costa, led the celebration along with the consulate staff, city diplomats and cultural personalities. IAS Santanu Basu was the chief guest. Ishikawa Yoshihisa, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata; Kathy Giles-Diaz, Consul General of US in Kolkata; Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul General of Thailand in Kolkata; British Dy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming; Australian Deputy Consul-General Kevin Goh; Nicolas Facino, Director, Alliance Française du Bengale; Debanjan Chakrabarti, Director British Council, East and Northeast India, were among the notable diplomatic guests present along with arts personalities like Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee at the reception which also served a spread of Italian delicacies and wines and presented an exhibition highlighting the relations between India and Italy along the years. The Naga Sadhus became the centre of attraction during the last Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025, captivating a sea of devotees with their remarkable display of discipline, traditional rituals, and martial arts. Their unique presence on the banks of Triveni, combined with their ancient traditions, left spectators in awe. The Shobha Yatra of the Akharas, organized for the Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami, was a spectacular sight.
