Nigeria: Government widens search for missing school girls
Abuja, Feb 26 (IBNS): The Nigerian government has widened its search for the missing 110 girls who have been kidnapped by Boko Haram militants last week.
The abduction took place after militants attacked their school in the town of Dapchi in the north-eastern Yobe state on Feb 19.
Condemning the incident, President Muhammadu Buhari said it was a "national disaster".
He has also tendered his apology to the family of the victims.
Dapchi is about 275km north-west of Chibok, where the infamous 2014 schoolgirl abduction took place.
A similar incident almost four years later has triggered anger and panic among Nigerian citizens.
Reports say that a month prior to the attack, soldiers were removed from key check points in Dapchi, making it easier for militants to infiltrate the area.
