Nigeria: Attack by unknown gunmen leaves 25 dead

| @indiablooms | Apr 06, 2024, at 11:07 pm

At least 25 people were killed by a group of unidentified gunmen who recently attacked a local community in Nigeria's north-central state of Kogi, local authorities said.

The gunmen wreaked havoc in the Agojeju-Odo community in the Omala local government area of Kogi late Thursday, injuring many others, Elias Atabor, a community leader told the media late Friday.

Atabor said the attacks have been incessant recently, noting "the death toll keeps rising by the hour, including children."

The gunmen drove into the community Thursday evening and began to shoot sporadically, the community leader said, urging the government to deploy more troops to the area, to forestall future attacks.
