Israeli ambassador to India Reuven Azar has said his nation considers New Delhi a vital global partner.

The envoy said he believes that India and Israel can contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

Speaking to Daily Pioneer, the envoy said: "Our partnership goes far beyond any single political development. Built on trust and shared interests, our cooperation spans security, agriculture, technology and trade. We value India as a vital global partner and are confident that together we can contribute to regional stability and prosperity."

He said the US tariffs imposed on India is a temporary matter that will be resolved soon.

"I hope this is a temporary issue that will be resolved soon, as I believe both countries share a strong interest in continuing close cooperation. Regarding the relationship between India and Israel, I do not think these developments will have any significant effect," he said.

The envoy said: "Our bilateral trade and strategic partnership are built on solid foundations and I am confident that our cooperation will remain robust and unaffected by external factors. We are in the midst of negotiating new agreements which will take our relations to the next level in the economic and security fields."

Speaking on the Global South issue, he said: "Israel highly values India’s role as a trusted partner not only to us but also to many countries in the Global South."

He remarked amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine that has been going on since October 7, 2023.
