Yangon, Apr 30 (Xinhua/UNI) The Myanmar security forces have defused three more improvised explosive devices (IED), planted by an ethnic insurgent group, the Arakan Army (AA), in Rakhine state, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services said on Tuesday.

The IEDs were set up near Kyauktaw township and were deactivated by the security forces on Monday.

Last Friday, the security personnel also stopped an attempt by the AA to set up an IED targeting a Kyaukphyu Township Administration Office in the state.
According to the military office, a total of 46 landmines planted by the AA have been cleared since January.

Meanwhile, the AA launched repeated attacks on military headquarters and a security gate in Mrauk U township last Saturday, prompting the security forces to return fire and leaving one AA member dead.

The government forces vowed to continue security operation to ensure the rule of law here.
