Japan: Gamagori city on alert for deadly fugu fish

| @indiablooms | Jan 16, 2018, at 07:07 pm

Tokyo, Jan 16 (IBNS): A Japanese city has asked its people not to buy or consume the fugu blowfish, after harmful portions of the fish (considered as a delicacy) were mistakenly sold.

According to reports, a supermarket in Japan's Gamagori city sold five packets of the fugu fish without removing the livers.

The liver of a fugu fish contains poison.

So far, three packets have been retrieved, while two remains missing.

Every year, Japan registers several cases of fugu poisoning.

An expensive winter dish, fugu is generally consumed raw.

Other preparation includes the fugu soup.
