Israel-Hamas war: Gaza death toll crosses 10,000

Gaza: The total number of deaths in Gaza has surpassed 10,000 since the latest round of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Palestinian health ministry said on Monday.

The conflict began on October 7 when Hamas terrorists invaded Israel from Gaza, killing over 1,400 people and kidnapping over 240 more in what Israel called the worst onslaught on Jews since the Holocaust.

In response, Israel launched a campaign of fierce airstrikes and then invaded the ground.

Without making a distinction between combatants and civilians, the Health Ministry reports that 10,022 people have died in Gaza.

Though Israel claims more than 500 rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists went astray and fell within Gaza, the great majority of the fatalities are thought to have been caused by Israeli aircraft.
