Hong Kong launches website to promote national security education

Hong Kong/Xinhua/UNI: China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) launched a website to promote national security education on Wednesday, which marks the fifth National Security Education Day.

The website, put online at 10:00 a.m. local time, contains text introduction, online galleries and videos showing the significance of national security.

Safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests is the common obligation of all Chinese people including Hong Kong compatriots, and the HKSAR Chief Executive and government shall unite and lead people from all walks of life in Hong Kong to fulfill this constitutional responsibility, according to the website.

The website was launched by the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute, with the HKSAR government and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR as support organizers.

An essay competition will also be held, in which contestants write about their understanding on national security and the peace in Hong Kong amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
