Hamburg anti-G20 protests enter day two, police beef security

Hamburg, Jul 8 (IBNS): As the anti-G20 protests in Hamburg entered day two, city police have beefed security, reports said.

The agitations were considered too violent for US First Lady Melenia Trump, who was forbidden to take part in a city tour.

The protesters torched several vehicles and destroyed shops in a fit of rage, drawing criticism from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

She condemned the act as 'unacceptable'.

The protesters, though over a lakh in number, only a small number took part in the agitations.

They protested the presence of US President Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Other issue such as climate change and wealth inequalities globally were also raised by them.

Police said that they used water cannon and pepper sprays to disperse the agitating mob.

About 20,000 security officers have been deployed to prevent any unsavoury incident from taking place.
