London, July 26 (IBNS): Around  100 firefighters fought a blaze on the top floor of a block of flats in north-west London's  West Hampstead early on Thursday, media reports said.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) stated on its Facebook page that  50 people were evacuated from the block, while firefighters helped bring out two people on the first floor of the building.

It said that a number of other residents of the building "self-evacuated" from the lower floors.

The Fire Brigade said 15 engines were at the scene, battling the blaze,  after being called at just after 1 am (GMT).

About four-and-a-half hours later, the LFB said the fire was under control and no one was taken to the hospital.

The fire was visible for miles. The cause of the blaze was not yet known,  LFB added.
