Brasilia, Sept 8 (IBNS): Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro will not return to campaign after he was stabbed during a rally on Thursday, his family has confirmed.

The incident took place during a campaign rally in Minas Gerais.

Doctors treating the far-right politician said that he has lost 40 percent of his blood while suffering a life threatening injury in his intestines.

However, he is presently recuperating.

Speaking about his condition, Flavio Bolsonaro, his son, said that it is unlikely that the senior Bolsonaro would return back to campaign for next month's election.

Meanwhile, he has divided opinions with his tough take on crimes and his repelling remarks towards same sex issues.
