From ‘Toilet Adda’ to Ganguly’s favourite balcony: 5 must-see Bigg Boss Bangla spots

Ganguly, now a seasoned television anchor, announced the names of 15 celebrities from diverse fields who entered the house, leaving behind their mobile phones and normal lives as they stepped into a no-network zone for nearly three months.

The contestants are well aware of the show's strict rules, which can often become overbearing, even as the unusual circumstances also create moments of fun and camaraderie.

Over the next three months, the contestants will navigate friendships, rivalries and politics while facing mentally and physically demanding experiences that are likely to trigger a range of emotions inside the house.

Who are the Bigg Boss Bangla contestants?

The carefully selected participants come from diverse backgrounds.

They include actors Monami Ghosh, Bharat Kaul, Anindya Sengupta, Srijla Guha, Nandini Roy (Dutta), Sohini Paul and Sonamoni Saha; singer Durnibar Saha; YouTuber Niranjan Mondal (Laughtersane); former footballer Dipendu Biswas; model-actor Alexandra Taylor; influencers Sayak Chakraborty and Joyita Chatterjee (Banerjee); digital content creator Jhilam Gupta; and entrepreneur Tanushree Roy Das.

Why is Bigg Boss Bangla set in Goregaon?

Though the makers had initially intended to build the Bigg Boss Bangla set in Kolkata, they eventually chose Goregaon Film City in Mumbai as the location because of the "massive logistics".

The Bigg Boss Bangla house has been built at Goregaon Film City in Mumbai, around 10 km from Mumbai airport.

The set has been designed to give the popular Hindi reality-show format a distinctly Bengali and Kolkata flavour, with elements such as balconies, railings, a taxi and even a tram incorporated into the décor.

The house reportedly spans around 10,000 sq ft of carpet area and features the usual Bigg Boss essentials, including a living room, kitchen, bedrooms, washrooms, balcony, swimming pool, play area and gym.

A house cut off from the outside world

One of the most striking aspects of the house is its complete separation from the outside world.

There are no clocks or arrangements for natural sunlight inside, reinforcing the show's concept of disconnecting contestants from time and their normal lives.

With around 80 cameras positioned throughout the house, there is hardly any blind spot for the contestants, with the washrooms being the primary exception.

Five cosy spots inside the Bigg Boss Bangla house

1. The poolside

The poolside is one of the more leisurely corners of the house, offering contestants a change of setting from the indoor spaces and a place to relax, interact and unwind.

In one of the initial episodes, contestants including Durnibar and Jhilam chose the poolside for their meal after being nominated by the captain to stay in the dugout, away from the main house.

2. The balcony

The balcony received special mention from Ganguly during his house tour at the launch.

"The balcony never leaves me," the former India captain said, recalling his iconic shirt-waving celebration at Lord's.

The balcony is likely to become one of the house's more relaxed spaces, offering contestants a place to sit, chat and unwind. Its Bengali and Kolkata-inspired detailing further adds to its charm.

3. The kitchen and dining area

The kitchen and dining area are more than just functional spaces. They are likely to become some of the biggest social hubs inside the house, where contestants bond over food, conversations and, inevitably, disagreements.

The chairs featuring Bengali sentences carrying deeper philosophical messages add another layer of Bengali flavour to the décor.

The space has already witnessed its share of drama. In the initial episodes, several contestants, including the first-week captain Bharat Kaul, were involved in heated arguments. More recently, Nandini and Joyita, as well as Srijla and Joyita, were involved in angry verbal exchanges.

A social hub inside the house where food, conversations, bonding and heated exchanges are all likely to unfold.

4. The washroom area

The washroom area is perhaps one of the most interesting spaces in the house from a design perspective.

Keeping with the Bengali cultural theme, its architecture reflects the traditional doors and windows commonly associated with Bengali homes. Colourful wallpapers and vibrant carpets add to the visual appeal, while the large mirrors make the space feel more open.

Speaking about the washroom area, Abhishek Mukherjee, Head Projects at Endemol Shine, which produces the show, said: "In this kind of a format, washrooms become an area where a lot of stories brew. A lot of people quarrel, backbite and bitch in that area so we tried to create an environment similar to Kolkata as much as possible."

Shyam Bhatia, Art Director of Bigg Boss Bangla, said he had even considered naming the restroom "Toilet Adda", explaining that the nature of a restroom often encourages people to lower their guards and open up, eventually turning it into a gossip zone.

Designed with traditional Bengali house-inspired doors and windows, the colourful space outside the washrooms could become an unexpected hub for private conversations and gossip.

5. The living room

The living room is the main gathering space inside the house, featuring comfortable seating and a warm, colourful design that makes it ideal for group conversations and interactions.

From virtually interacting with Bigg Boss to the weekend televised meetings with Ganguly, the living room couch is expected to become one of the most important spots in the house.

As the season progresses, it could witness everything from laughter and bonding to arguments, strategy discussions and emotional confrontations — making it the true assembly point of the Bigg Boss Bangla house.
