English actor Luke Thompson reprised his role as Benedict Bridgerton in the fourth season of Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton, which premiered on January 29.

Created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shondaland, Bridgerton is set in an alternate-history version of Regency-era London, where the elite navigate a high-stakes marriage market filled with gossip, romance, and scandal.

The series follows the Bridgerton family’s lives and romantic journeys, adapted from Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels.

Season 4 centers on Benedict Bridgerton’s love story, inspired by Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman. Yerin Ha joined the cast as Sophie, Benedict’s love interest.

In a conversation with the BBC, Thompson and Ha spoke about filming the series’ intimate scenes.

Ha said, “The sex scenes don’t feel typical when the co-actor is someone you can trust. It’s an extension of expression, and it just feels like another scene.”

Thompson added, “It’s delightful. I expected it to be a huge burden, but actually, it’s a responsibility. Being at the centre of a show allows you to really engage with every single element of it.”

Benedict, who had previously avoided marriage to resist societal norms, meets a mysterious girl in silver at a masquerade ball this season. His love for Sophie, who exists outside society’s strictures, drives a romance that explores social barriers and emotional growth.

The first half of the fourth season premiered on January 29, while the second half is scheduled for release on February 26.
