West Bengal: BSF seizes 1.2 kgs of suspected heroin
"On 21st Dec 2015, at about 0500 hrs, specific information was received by BSF regarding movement of smugglers along with consignment of Narcotics from India to Bangladesh in the area of Border outpost DMC ex-04 Bn BSF under Police station Lalgola," the BSF said in a statement.
"On receiving the information, at about 0600 hrs, troops of 04 Bn BSF sent special patrol in the area to check the smuggling. The special patrol party noticed movement of suspected person carrying a bag and approaching towards Bangladesh side," read the statement.
"He tried to throw a plastic bag over the Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence (IBBF). Immediately, special patrol party challenged him but miscreant managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of foggy weather and undulating ground," it said.
The Spl patrol team thoroughly searched the area and recovered a plastic bag.
The BSF found 13 packets of contraband items weighing 1.205 Kgs which contained brown color powder suspected to be heroin.
" Out of those 10 packets are marked “Black Taj mahal” with black colour," read the statement.
"15 nos toffees stamped with “Tarang Munnakka Yukt Shiva Amrit” of approx 5 gms each," it said.
The seized items have been handed over to Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), Kolkata for further investigation.
