Suspend crowded political events in Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray to all parties

Aurangabad/Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday urged all political parties and organizations to immediately suspend crowded political events, rallies and morchas (demonstrations) to prevent the outbreak of third wave of coronavirus and instead, give priority to the health of the people.

Thackeray said in a statement that "as the Chief Minister of the state, there are clear instructions for the government to be followed to face this crisis, but I am appealing to all parties, both in power and in opposition, to be more careful now and avoid crowded events."

"Festivals, celebrations have come, but finally our health is important. Let's celebrate even after the festival," he noted.

While referring to parties making demands of keeping temples and religious places open, he said the demands were fine, but it has increased the danger.

"If everyone follows the rules and limits, there will be no time to impose strict restrictions again. That is why I humbly appeal to all political parties, including my Shiv Sena, to protect the lives of the people by acting wisely. Festivals, if not today, will come tomorrow, but everyone in the house is important to us," the Chief Minister added.
