Supreme Court closes cases against Sadhguru's Isha Foundation over 'illegal confinement' of two women

New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court on Friday closed the cases against spiritual leader Sadhguru's Isha Foundation over an alleged illegal confinement of two women after they claimed to be staying at the ashram out of their own will, media reports said.

The two women, aged 42 and 39, said they are staying in the ashram without any coercion.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said, "These proceedings cannot be to malign people and malign institutions."

Earlier in October, the top court had paused the Madras High Court order directing a probe into the case filed against the Isha Foundation

The Madras High Court had passed the order in the backdrop of one professor's allegation that his two daughters had been "brainwashed" to turn into hermits and stay at Isha Yoga Centre under Isha Foundation run by the spiritual guru.

S Kamaraj, the professor, had filed a plea seeking his daughters' appearance in the court in person.

One of the two daughters had alleged that their father had been harassing them for the last eight years, the report said.
