New Delhi, Feb 15 (IBNS): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday attacked Union Minister Rajnath Singh and said he was “communalising” the JNU issue as he claimed that 26/11 terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed was backing the protest by students.

"Rajnath communalising#JNUATROCITY at PULPIT of Pulp Patriotism.Tell PM's Biryani friend Nawaz Sharief Arrest Hafiz Syeed for terror attacks," Tewari tweeted.

Singh on Sunday said the incident at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where anti-India slogans were raised recently to mark the death anniversary of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru, had complete backing of Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed.

"The incident that happened at JNU was fully supported by Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed. I appeal all political parties that whenever such situations arise where anti-India slogans are raised, the entire nation must speak in one voice," Rajnath Singh told media.

The JNU is currently facing protests and counter protests with the police cracking down on students over the anti-India slogans raised earlier to mark the death anniversary of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru on its campus in the national capital.

Student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who is the president of the JNU students' union- the left-leaning All India Students Federation (AISF), has been arrested.
