Rahul Gandhi slams Modi-Shah over transferring of Bhima-Koregaon case to NIA
New Delhi/UNI: Hitting out at the Union government over the transfer of Bhima-Koregaon case to National Investigating Agency (NIA), former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the Bhima-Koreagon is a symbol of resistance and government's 'stooges' can never erase.
Referring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as 'MOSH', Mr Gandhi also said anyone who oppose duo's 'agenda of hate' was termed as 'Urban Naxal', a coinage repeatedly using by the pro-government parties.
"Anyone who opposes the MOSH agenda of hate is an 'Urban Naxal'. Bhima-Koregaon is a symbol of resistance that the Government’s NIA stooges can never erase", tweeted Mr Gandhi.
The former Congress president's response came a day after the government decided to transfer the case to NIA, which was irked the ruling coalition of Maharashtra.
The transferring of case to NIA took place a day after the Maharashtra government held a review meeting with senior police officers in Pune and was mulling to constitute an Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the entire episode.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh criticised the Centre's move and said, "handing over the Koregaon-Bhima probe to the NIA is against the Constitution and I condemn it" and added that the decision was taken without the consent of state government. .
The Pune police had filed cases against activists and intellectuals who gave speeches at Elgar Parishad, a gathering held on the previous day of January 1, 2018, when Dalits were celebrating 200 years of a British-era battle, in Bhima- Koreagon near Pune district.
