President of India’s message on the Eve of Independence Day of Kiribati

New Delhi, Jul 11 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Kiribati on the eve of their Independence Day (July 12, 2016).

Kiribati, an island republic in the Central Pacific, and consists of 33 coral atolls stretching along the equator.

In a message to the President of the Republic of Kiribati, Taneti Mamau, the Indian President has said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with great pleasure that I extend warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kiribati.

India and Kiribati have traditionally enjoyed warm and cordial relations - based on respect, goodwill and mutual understanding. I am confident that relations between our two countries will continue to strengthen in the coming years to the mutual benefit of our peoples. India remains committed to support Kiribati and other Pacific Island Countries in their developmental needs. I firmly believe that in the near future, our joint developmental initiatives in the areas of renewable energy and Information Technology will help create a solid foundation for the further strengthening of this valued partnership.

I take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency my best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Kiribati”
