Nitish Kumar conspiring against Lalu Prasad: Tejashwi Yadav

Ranchi/Patna, Jan 24 (IBNS): Sharpening his attack against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday said the former is conspiring against his party supremo Lalu Prasad, who has been convicted in the third fodder scam case by the Ranchi Central Bureau of  Investigation (CBI) court.

Tejashwi, who is also Lalu scion, told media: "BJP and RSS are conspiring against Lalu Prasad. But mostly Nitish Kumar."

"People of Bihar know that Lalu Prasad is not guilty" Tejashwi, the former Bihar Deputy CM, added.

Tejashwi has also said the party will move the high court challenging the verdict.

The third case pertains to a fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 33.67 crore from Chaibasa treasury in 1992-93. In all the cases, Lalu has been convicted.

Earlier this month, Lalu was sentenced to 3.5 years of jail term after being convicted in another case of the fodder scam in late December.

The RJD chief was convicted for his fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from the Deoghar treasury 21 years ago.

Though Tejashwi was Nitish's deputy in the Bihar government run by the grand alliance for two years, the rift between the two was created after the JD(U) switched sides to stitch an alliance with the BJP in the state.
