Nestle India slapped fine of 62 lakhs after Maggi fails lab test
Lucknow, Nov 29 (IBNS): Nestle India has been slapped a fine of 62 lakh by the district administration of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after samples of the company's noodle brand Maggi allegedly failed a lab test, media reports said.
Apart from the company, the district administration has slapped a fine of Rs. 45 lakh on Nestle and 17 lakhs on its six distributors.
The lab test has found the ash content in the Maggi samples above the permissible limit.
Nestle India said it will file an appeal once they get the order.
Shahjahanpur Additional District Magistrate Jitendra Kumar Sharma told The Hindu: "In total there were seven cases. The samples tested by the Food and Safety department of the district were found to be sub-standard."
