NCW to summon Shashi Tharoor for his comment against Miss World Manushi Chhillar

New Delhi, Nov 20 (IBNS): The National Commission for Women has said that it will summon Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for his remark against Miss World Manushi Chhillar.

Chhillar won the title on Saturday.

She won the title after 17 years since Priyanka Chopra had grabbed it in 2000.

Tharoor had triggered a controversy when he attacked the BJP government over its move to ban old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes last year by dragging the name of the Indian Miss World in a tweet.

Tharoor had tweeted: "What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!"

The NCW was quick in informing that he will be summoned for the 'derogatory' remark against the Indian beauty.

"@NCWIndia will summon @ShashiTharoor to commission on his derogatory and degrading tweet on our pride @ManushiChhillar She got fame and name to country by winning #MissWorld crown," the NCW tweeted.
