Narendra Modi in Tripura : State backward due to Left rule

| @indiablooms | Feb 08, 2018, at 10:30 pm

Agartala, Feb 8 (IBNS) :  In keeping with the BJP's agenda to push for the country's last red bastion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday sounded the poll trumpet in Tripura, saying the state remained backward due to 25 years of Left "misrule,' reports said.

Addressing an election  rally in Sonamur, 50 km south-west of the state capital Agartala, Modi said his Government at the Centre was working to develop the whole northeast India.

"The BJP Government at the Centre is working with all sincerity for all round progress of northeast India. But Tripura remained backward and people of the state remained underdeveloped due to misrule of Left parties for the past 25 years," he said.

The PM said the Centre has already chalked out an all-round development plan for Tripura with a focus on '3T'.

"We are focusing on 3Ts for Tripura - Trade, Tourism, Training of the youth so that they get opportunities to shine," he said.

Modi said the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government had set up the Development of North Eastern Region Ministry to develop the region. His Government also gave top priority to develop the infrastructure of the region and to improve the lives of the people.

He    called for the change of Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M)- led state Government.

"Voting for BJP's lotus symbol will be a punishment for the Left Front Government in the February 18 Assembly elections as during its 25 years of misrule people did not get anything, poverty went up and backwardness widened."

Criticizing Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Modi said: "under his (Sarkar's) white kurta there is a dark side. His Government cheated people by giving poor wages when the people of other parts of the country got higher wages and the Government employees got higher salaries.

"In the past 25 years, the Left parties hypnotized the people. People could not understand how backward they are. Now the time has come to change the future of the state and the fortune of the people...  "You all should get rid of Manik (Gem). You need 'HIRA' (H-highway, I-Way or digital connectivity), R-Roadways, A-Airways."
