Modi speaks to Bihar CM on situation arising due to storm in state
New Delhi, Apr 22 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on situation arising due to storms in various parts of the State.
"Spoke to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar ji on situation arising due to storms in various parts of the State. Assured all assistance from Centre," Modi said in a statement.
"Home Minister Rajnath Singhji will be visiting Bihar to take stock of the situation", the Prime Minister said.
At least thirty-two people were killed and over 80 were injured as a nor'wester hit several Bihar districts on Tuesday night, reports said.
The storm destroyed thousands of huts and standing crops.
Districts of Purnia, Madhepura, Saharsa, Madhubani, Samastipur, Darbhanga and Samastipur were badly hit by the storm.
The storm left several thousand trees uprooted and damaged power lines.
Road transport in those affcted districts were also hit in the aftermath of the storm, said reports.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: "Spoke to Bihar CM Shri Nitish Kumar who apprised me of the situation after the storm in three districts of the state."
"Shri Kumar is visiting the storm affected areas to take stock of the situation. The Centre has assured the state of all possible help," he said.
