Modi-Rahul literal face-off in Gujarat poll campaigns today

Rajkot, Nov 29 (IBNS): A big focus on Wednesday will be on Saurashtra region of Gujarat as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be busy in campaigning for the upcoming poll in the state, media reports said.

Modi and Gandhi will literally have a face-off as the two top leaders would be present within 50 km from each other at the same time.

While Gandhi is scheduled to visit Somnath Temple in Saurashtra, Modi will be holding several rallies in the region.

The political heat can already be felt in Gujarat as the Prime Minister and the Congress Vice President have been up to one another in recent times.

While Gandhi vehemently attacked the PM over demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST) in last few rallies, Modi did not leave an opportunity to give a reply to the 'chaiwala' remark passed on him by the Congress.

"I will sell tea but not nation" Modi replied hitting out at the Congress.

Congress' ally partner in the state poll, Patidar Ananmat Andolan Samiti's leader Hardik Patel will also be undertaking poll campaigns in several parts of the state.

Congress and PAAS have forged an alliance for the state poll as the former have agreed to the latter's demands over reservation.

Holding a press conference days ago, Hardik stated that Congress would implement the reservation demands if it comes to power.

While the BJP is in power since 1995, Congress is trying hard to make an inroad to the state after a long time.

The poll will be conducted in two phases, scheduled to be held on Dec 9 and Dec 14.

The counting of votes will take place on Dec 18.
