Meghalaya : Eight persons injured in IED blast

Guwahati, May 27 (IBNS) : At least eight persons, including three women were injured, in a low intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at a busy market in Tura of Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district on Wednesday, police said.

The explosion took place at Tura Bazar area at around 10:55 am.

A top police official of West Garo Hills district said that suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants had triggered the explosion at the busy market to create panic among civilians.

The injured persons were admitted at civil hospital in Tura.

Top police army officials rushed to the blast area and launched a massive operation against the militants who are behind the blast.
