Major fire breaks out in Howrah jute mill

Kolkata, Dec 8 (IBNS): A major fire broke out at Fort William Jute Mill near Foreshore Road under Shibpur Police Station limits in Kolkata's twin city Howrah on Thursday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first noticed at around 9:15 a.m. inside the factory's diesel storage and it spread very quickly to the other parts of the jute mill.

As many as five fire tender engines and police force rushed to the spot and firemen fought for hours to bring the blaze under control.

However, no casualty has been reported so far, while an investigation has been initiated to determine the exact reason behind the mishap.
