Last remaining KNLA cadres surrender in Assam’s Karbi Anglong

Guwahati/IBNS: The last remaining cadres of Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) surrendered in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Friday.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, 27 militants of UPRF/KNLF(KUKI) had surrendered with 17 weapons including one HK rifle, one A2 rifle, one M16 rifle, one AK-47 rifle, five pistols, one SSBL and six country made guns before the DIG, SP of Karbi Anglong district.

KNLA chairman Lamsem alias Joel, General Secretary Paokhosiem alias James, Defence Secretary Paotinlal alias Arjun are among the surrendered KNLA cadres.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Under the guidance of Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji & HM Shri @AmitShah ji, we've had a major achievement towards permanent peace in Assam. Last remaining cadres of UPRF/KNLF(KUKI) surrendered & handed over 17 weapons including 4 assault rifles to DIG & SP, Karbi Anglong.”
