Kolkata: Veteran journalist Gopal Krishna Roy passes away

Kolkata, Jan 17 (IBNS): Veteran journalist Gopal Krishna Roy, who was closely associated with late Bengali actress Suchitra Sen, passed away after prolonged illness on Sunday.

He was 83  and a bachelor.

Gopal Krishna Roy was a journalist who worked with news agency UNI.

He was a much sought after scribe in journalism circles for his intimate knowledge of the late legendary actress Suchitra Sen.

Gopal Krishna Roy was the President of Press Club, Kolkata in 1993 and 1994.

"May his soul rest in peace. Our condolences to the bereaved family," the Club said in a statement.

During his journalism career, he was known for his coverage of entertainment and health issues.

He had also covered the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Besides Kolkata, he had also worked from India's north-east region.

He had penned down several books on Suchitra Sen.
