New Delhi, Feb 19 (IBNS) Taking a jibe at the soft treatment meted out by police to BJP legislator OP Sharma, who was seen beating up a Leftist supporter of arrested JNU student union leader Kanhaiya Kumar during his production in a court, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said under the union government anyone can get away with murder, rape and assault with the excuse of acting against those shouting anti-India slogan.

"Centre's new IPC- rape, murder or beat anyone. When questioned, just say that victim was shouting anti-India slogans, u will be let off," tweeted Kejriwal.

He said under the "Centre's new IPC- it's not a crime to murder, rape or beat anyone if u r [you are] from BJP."

"Being opposed to BJP n [and] RSS is biggest crime now," he said.

Sharma was summoned  by the police only three days after he was seen on camera chasing and attacking a Leftist last Monday when Kanhaiya Kumar was to be produced.

He had pleaded that he acted against those who were shouting anti-India slogans.

Journalists were beaten up on the same day by some lawyers.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear a  petition which sought action against those involved in beating up students, teachers and journalists in Patiala House court complex  on Monday.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)  is currently facing protests and counter protests with the police cracking down on students over the anti-India slogans raised earlier to mark the death anniversary of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru on its campus in the national capital.
