He was arrested on sedition charges.
Kumar was attacked when he was brought to a Delhi court for hearing a case against him on Wednesday.
He was reportedly kicked and punched by the attackers.
In a repetition of Monday's images, a group of lawyers allegedly attacked students and journalists at the Patiala House court premises hereon Wednesday.
The attack occurred ahead of a hearing on the case related to Kumar.
He was arrested last week on sedition charges.
Wednesday's assault was also led by one Vikram Chauhan, media reports said.
Reporter Tarique Anwar, who works for Firstpost, has been attcked on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has appointed a team of lawyers who will visit the Patiala House court to observe the situation.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is currently facing protests and counter protests with the police cracking down on students over the anti-India slogans raised earlier to mark the death anniversary of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru on its campus in the national capital.
JNU teachers, students and media persons were allegedly attacked by lawyers in New Delhi's Patiala Court on Monday.
