J&K: 4 ministers deputed to monitor rising water levels

Informing the House on Sunday Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari informed that  Altaf Bukhari, Choudhary Sukhnandan, Imran Ansari and Muhammad Ashraf Mir have left for Srinagar.

An official handout in Srinagar said that in wake of heavy rainfall in the valley, Ministerial team are monitoring the situation on hourly basis at Srinagar.

Minister for Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar is on way to Srinagar to personally take stock of the situation.

The ministerial team along with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and IGP Kashmir have been visiting various flood prone areas to ascertain the situation on ground and the precautionary measures been taken by the government at divisional and district  level.

In an another official handout which was released here in Srinagar said that  Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is on way to Srinagar to personally monitor the situation arising due to incessant rains in the Valley.

Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh informed the Legislative Assembly that administration is on full alert in the wake of heavy rains in valley and the situation is being monitored continuously.

He said people should not panic and assured that all precautionary measures have been put in place.

Heavy rains have lashed the Kashmir valley since last evening even as the MeT department warned of week-long wet weather in the state.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to heavy rains from last 24 hours in Kashmir valley , Scores of families were Saturday evacuated to safer locations after 20 residential houses collapsed and around 60 others suffered damages due to massive cracks caused by soil erosion and landslides in Budgam Dsitrict of South Kashmir.
