J&K: 2 CRPF men killed in militant attack

Srinagar, May 11 (IBNS): At least two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed in an attack by militants in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.

According to reports, militants opened indiscriminate firing on a road opening party near Halmulla area of the district which left two CRPF men, including an officer, seriously injured.

Later, both died while they were taken to hospital, official said.

Militants fled from the scene after the attack.

Meanwhile, soon after the attack, the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the CRPF cordoned the whole area and launched a search operation to nab the assailants.

No militant organization has claimed responsibility of the attack so far.
