New Delhi/UNI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said it is our duty to protect the Indian Constitution.

Kejriwal read the Preamble addressing people at a programme on the eve of the 71st Republic Day, organised at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. The Cultural Programme was organised by the Government of NCT of Delhi.

“I want to congratulate the two crore people of Delhi and the entire nation for the occasion of Republic Day. The Indian Constitution was implemented 70 years back on 26th January. Our Constitution was framed by our revered freedom fighters and people who made many sacrifices in the want of freedom. They had a vision and a dream of a free India, which has been preserved in the Indian Constitution,” he said.

Before reading out the Preamble, Kejriwal said, “The Preamble is the soul of our Constitution, it acts as the crux of the Indian Constitution. I would like to read the Preamble here in front of you all.”

Kejriwal said that it is the duty of the 130 crore people of India to protect the Indian Constitution.

“If we protect the Constitution, the Constitution will protect us when our nation is in danger. We have to make India great, we have to excel in all fields, we have to make India the number one nation in the world. We have Delhi Assembly elections on 8th February. Each year on the occasion of the Republic Day, I used to interact with you on a lot of issues of public importance. I used to answer all your questions. But unfortunately, I would not be able to interact with you much today since the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented,” he said.

Mr Kejriwal ended his address with versing the gospel song ‘Hum Honge Kamyab..’ which became a key anthem of freedom movements in India.
