Indo-Bangladesh border to be sealed in 2018 : Rajnath Singh

Guwahati, Dec 26 (IBNS) : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that Indo-Bangladesh border will be sealed in 2018.

Singh said that fencing work along Indo-Bangla border to be completed in one and a half years.

Attending at the BJP's workers meeting held in Guwahati, the Union Home minister said that centre is very serious to seal the Indo-Bangladesh border and to check infiltration.

On the issue of Assam Accord, which was signed in 1985 following the six years Assam agitation, Rajnath Singh said that Clause 6 of Assam Accord will be protected, no question of overriding it.

The Union Home Minister also said that the ongoing NRC update process in Assam will be completed in soonest possible time.

"Centre will extend all rounds support to the state government to complete the NRC update process," the Union Home minister said.

On the Hindu Bangladeshi issue, Rajnath Singh said that, some parties & organizations creating unnecessary clamour over Hindu Bangladeshi issue.

Earlier, the Union Home minister had welcomed the newly appointed Assam BJP unit president Ranjit Das.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other leaders of the saffron party attended in the meeting.
