Dehradun, Dec 27 (IBNS) : Asserting that he has been elected as the nation's "watchman," Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his demonetisation move is a cleansing operation that deals in one stroke multiple evils.

e had said that corrupt people will be punished and now this is happening; This is a 'Safai Abhiyaan' and people of India have helped me," he said while addressing his "Parivartan rally" in the Uttarakhand capital Dehradun.

"In one stroke fake notes, terrorism, human trafficking, drug mafia were dealt with after demonetisation announcement on November eight," Modi said.

" I know you have faced a lot of inconvenience but despite that the nation came forward to fight against corruption...I owe to the country for their support in fight against corruption, black money."

"People haven't chosen me as PM for just cutting ribbon, you have given me charge as watchman, and when I am doing my job, its troubling some people," Modi said.

Claiming that he does not make false promises, the PM said the Chardham Highway Development  project, which he had inaugurated earlier in the day, will provide a big employment opportunity in  Uttarakhand.

As Uttarakhand goes to state Assembly polls next year, Modi launched his campaign by urging people to bring in the "engine" of development in Uttarakhand by voting in favour of the BJP.

"The development engine is already working at the Centre in Delhi. Bring it also in Uttarakhand....We are working to turn Uttarakhand into the land of opportunities. We'll take this state to new heights of developmen," he said.

"I don't forget my words, I remember what I say.  I don't make false promises," Modi said, asserting that his Government has only one agenda-that is development.

The PM said the Rs. 12000-core Char dham projec is a " tribute" to those who lost their lives during Uttarakhand flash floods.

"We are launching this project with proper planning.I assure you that whenever you will come for Kedarnath,Badrinath yatra, you will remember this Government My government is dedicated to work for poor. We will provide better transport facilities to Uttarakhand."

While  hitting out at the Congress over One Rank One Pension (OROP), Modi said, "My Army jawans were demanding OROP for the last 40 years, the party that ruled the country then never thought of their demands."
