Gujarat BMW hit-and-run: Doctor's son convicted for killing two

Ahmedabad, Jul 13 (IBNS) The son of a Gujarat doctor was on Monday convicted for killing two people with his BMW car and running away in 2013 in Ahmedabad.

Reports said a  local court sentenced Vismay Shah to five years in jail and asked him to pay Rs 25,000 as fine and Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those who died.

The son of an eye surgeon, Vismay was driving the car at 150 kmph speed  in February, 2013, and hit a motorcycle before crashing into a tree. 

According to eyewitness accounts, the  27-year-old then abandoned the car and ran away.

The man riding pillion on the bike died almost instantaneously while driver died a day later.
