Govt employee shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 9 (IBNS) Unidentified men shot dead an employee of the state's health department in Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday.

According to officials,  unknown gunmen shot pharmacist Altaf Rehman Sheikh (45), son of Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh, from a point blank range near New Colony in Sopore.

Sheikh was later rushed to near by hospital by locals where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police sources said Sheikh was affiliated with the Hurriyat group headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

No group has yet taken responsibility for the murder so far.
