Mumbai, Feb 9 (IBNS) A picture of a Godman plucking out a necklace from thin air and gifting it to Maharashtra CM's wife is drawing flak from all corners, according to reports.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis' wife Amruta was attending an awards ceremony when the incident took place.

According to reports, Guruvanand Swami, the Godman whisked his hand and produced a gold necklace and gifted it to Amruta, who accepted it.

Reacting to this incident, deemed superstitious, Avinash Patil, President of Committee for Eradication of Superstition in Maharashtra was quoted by NDTV as saying that the CM should "issue a clarification on the incident. If needed, he should tender an apology."

Challenging the Godman, he said, "We are willing to offer a Rs. 21 lakh prize to the godman if he is able to perform his 'miracle' in controlled conditions."

Clarifying the issue, Amruta, who is a banker by profession, said, "I offered my salutations to him as respect to an elderly person. These are values I have been brought up with and these are the values I will continue to practice."
