Godhra Verdict: Gujarat HC commutes death sentence of 11 to life imprisonment
Gandhinagar, Oct 9 (IBNS): The Gujarat High Court on Monday commuted the death sentence of 11 convicted people in Godhra train burning incident, which occurred fifteen years ago, to rigorious life imprisonment, media reports said.
The train burning incident in Gujarat, in 2002, fanned communal violence across the state, killing at least 1000 people.
The High Court has rejected the plea of acquittal by the convicts.
