Four sentenced to death in 8-year-old Kupwara gang-rape and murder of minor

Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, Apr 24 (IBNS) All four convicts in the rape and murder of a minor in Kupwara have been sentenced to death by a local court in Jammu and Kashmir.

The brutal rape and murder of the 13-year-old school girl Tabinda Gani took place eight years back in 2007.

The four had abducted the girl before committing the heinous crime.Tabinda Gani in Kupwara, a local court will handover the quantum of sentence to four convicts.

The family of the victim had been demanding death sentence for the convicts arguing that the crime falls under 'rarest of rare' category.

The convicts are  Sadiq Mir, Azhar Ahmad Mir who are residents of Langate along with two non-locals - Mochi Jahangir Ansari of West Bengal and Suresh Kumar of Rajasthan.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, Muhammad Ibrahim Wani, had held all the four guilty of the crimes.
